Hetzner recursive name servers

⚠️ DNS is now available in Hetzner Console (see this FAQ). It is no longer possible to create new zones in the old DNS Console. We recommend that all customers migrate their existing zones to Hetzner Console by the end of this year (see migration guide).

This documentation is about our recursive DNS system. Please see Hetzner authoritative name servers for information about our authoritative DNS servers that are meant to be used for your domain registration.

Here is a list of all the official recursive domain name servers that virtual and dedicated servers in the Hetzner data centers can use:

The IPv4 addresses of our recursive DNS servers are:

185.12.64.1
185.12.64.2

The IPv6 addresses of our recursive DNS servers are:

2a01:4ff:ff00::add:1
2a01:4ff:ff00::add:2

These DNS servers are DNS load balancer systems.

Previously known recursive DNS IP addresses will continue to work but may not provide the best performance across all our locations.

IPs Hetzner uses to query other authoritative DNS servers

Due to the load balancer setup, the IP addresses that we use to perform DNS queries from our recursive DNS servers to other authoritative DNS servers are not identical with those IPs mentioned above.

We publish a list of the network ranges from which we perform queries with the TXT record locations.recursivedns.hetzner.com.
