In this section, you can learn how to restore backups of your files and databases.

Restoring files

Once you have chosen the correct backup date, you should be able to see the folder public_html. You then have the following options for selecting what you want to restore:

  • Restore all files from the public_html directory

When you choose this option, the restore will include the complete content of the folder public_html.

  • Restore individual files/directories

With this option, you can select individual files or subdirectories from the file list.

Here are your options for how you want to restore the files:

  • Create a new directory for the restored files

The restore process will create a new directory in the home directory.

  • Restore files in the original directory and overwrite existing files

The restore process will restore the files in their original directory. If a file already exists with the same name in the folder, the process will overwrite the existing file.

  • Delete files/directory prior to restoring. Afterwards restore the files in the original directory and overwrite existing files.

First, the restore process will delete all the files in the existing directory. Then it will restore the files in their original directory and overwrite any existing files.

If you would like to restore files from the home directory (e.g. emails or log files), click in the overview on home directory.

Click on Restore to start restoring the files. Even if there is a just small amount of data in the files/directory, this process may take some time. While you wait for the process to finish, you may leave this page without causing any problems; you will not interrupt the restore process.

Once you have selected the correct database and backup date, you have the following options:

  • Overwrite an existing database

This will overwrite the content of the existing database.

  • Create a new database

This creates a new database with the content from the backup.

Click on Restore to start restoring the files. Even if there is just a small amount of data in the database, this process may take some time. While you wait for the process to finish, you may leave this page without causing any problems; you will not interrupt the restore process.

How can I restore a backup of my website?

On konsoleH you can access backups from the last 14 days by going to "Services; Backup" in the menu. You can also restore databases in this way.

Note: Older managed server models do not include the backup addon. If you have an older managed server model, and you want to use the backup addon, please write a support ticket via your kosoleH account. Our support team will help you order the backup addon or upgrade to a newer server model.
