Verification of contact details
After you have used your email address for the first time with a new domain (except .de/.at) for the domain owner, an email will be sent to the address specified in the contact details. This contains a link to verify the email address. If this link is not clicked within 14 days, the domain will be blocked and will no longer be accessible.
This applies to both newly registered and existing domains. Domains that are transferred to Hetzner with unverified contact details are also affected.
Existing contacts do not require initial verification.
FAQ
Why is the verification described above being introduced?
The verification of contact details is a requirement of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
What do the emails for verifying contact details look like?
Please note that the emails have no connection to Hetzner in terms of resellers. The domain emailverification.info is used for both the confirmation link and the sender address.
How can I reactivate a blocked domain?
If you still have the verification email, you can use it to verify your contact details and reactivate the domain even after the 14 days have expired. If you no longer have the email, we can resend it upon request.
Does every new contact actually have to be verified?
Yes, every new contact that is registered as the holder of an (international) domain for the first time must be verified. The only exception: If you use an email address in a new contact that has already been verified via another contact, it is automatically verified.
When do I have to verify a new contact?
The verification email is sent when the contact is registered as a holder for the first time. In the case of a transfer, for example, this only happens once the transfer has been successfully completed and the contact has been entered in the subsequent update.
