In the konsoleH you will find Account Maintenance. Account Maintenance allows you to specify when files that are no longer needed are automatically deleted. This helps you keep your storage space tidy and prevents old data from being retained unnecessarily.

You can define maintenance rules for the following areas, amongst others:

  • Spam folder for email inboxes
  • Recycle Bin for email inboxes
  • Web logs or the stored www_logs

Different rules apply depending on the product and level.

Scope of maintenance rules

on konsoleH, there are several levels at which you can define maintenance rules. If rules exist at multiple levels, the more specific rule takes precedence.

Domain-based rules

You can set individual maintenance rules for each domain.

You can find these settings for the respective domain under:
ServicesAccount maintenance

Domain-based rules have the highest priority within standard account management.

Server-wide rules

This option applies only to Managed Servers. You can define individual maintenance rules for each Managed Server. These rules apply to the accounts on this server, provided no domain-based rules have been set.

You can find the setting under:
Account ManagementAccount Maintenance

General Rules

General rules apply across all products to all relevant accounts, i.e. both for Shared Hosting and Managed Servers. These rules are applied if no server-wide or domain-based rules exist.

You can find the setting under:
AdministrationMaintenanceAccount Maintenance

Default Rules

If you have not defined your own maintenance rules, the default rules apply automatically.

By default, this means:

  • Emails in the spam folder are deleted after 14 days
  • Emails in the trash are deleted after 14 days
  • Weblogs are not automatically deleted

Priority of the rules

If several rule types apply, the following order applies:

  1. Domain-based rules
  2. Server-wide rules for managed servers
  3. General rules
  4. Default rules

This allows you to define global settings and, if necessary, deviate from them specifically for individual accounts or servers.

Manually executing maintenance rules

You can perform maintenance tasks not only automatically but also manually on a one-off basis.
To do this, set the desired parameters and then click on Run.
This is useful if you want to perform a clean-up immediately without waiting for the next regular maintenance run.
