Mail Logs in konsoleH

The system logs all incoming and outgoing emails in the mail logs.

For each email, the system displays information such as the sender, recipient, mail server, IP address, and any delivery errors.

Each log entry contains a unique Message-ID as well as all events that occurred up until the system delivered or rejected the email.

Events in the mail log

Mail received

The mail server received an email.
This can be an incoming email or an outgoing email that a mail client or script sent.

Rejection

The mail server rejected an email.

A possible reason is, for example, a non-existent recipient address.

Warning

Warning messages contain additional information, such as an email’s spam score.

Delay

The system could not deliver the email at the specified time, so it will attempt delivery again later.

Error

The system could not deliver the email and will not attempt delivery again.

Delivery

The system successfully delivered the email.
Depending on the email’s destination, the system displays additional information about the destination server.

Searching the Mail Logs

Since mail logs can contain a large number of entries, various filtering options are available.

You can search by the following criteria, among others:

  • Email address
  • IP address
  • Mail server
  • Message ID

Additionally, you can specify a time range for the search.

Note: We retain mail log data for a maximum of 7 days.

Outgoing Filters

To evaluate emails for potential spam, we set outgoing filters. For example:

  • score_body_link_is_foreign: Indicates that the email contains a link to an external address.
  • score_stats_deviation: Indicates that the system sent more emails than average within a short period of time.

The system delays emails if the score reaches 50 or higher.

Mail system status

This setting lets you enable or disable the mail server for your domain.
Disable it if an external server manages the mail system. In this case, the MX record in the zone file points to this external mail server.

⚠️ You can only completely disable local email reception if the MX record points to an external mail server. Otherwise, emails may be lost.

Usage

This section displays the current number of mailboxes and forwarding rules, as well as the storage space currently required by all accounts.
