Robot login

To change the password for your Robot account, first switch to the "Accounts" interface by clicking on "User account" in the user menu located in the upper right corner. In the "Accounts" interface, you can set a new password under "Administration" -> "Settings" -> "Password".

Webservice login

If you have created a separate login for the Robot webservice, you can change this password on Robot. Click on the user icon in the upper right corner and then on "Settings" and "Webservice and app settings".

How do I create a separate admin login?

Some customers order a dedicated server and hire or find someone else to do system administration for them. This is especially true for customers who do not have much technical knowledge, since these are unmanged servers.

If you are one of these customers, you may want to set up a separate login for your sysadmin.

To do that, order the server that you want as normal. We will send you the access details to your account. Use those to log in. Or, if you already have a server, log into your existing Robot account.

Then navigate to the correct server, and click on it. In the new window, look for “Admin login” in the middle of the menu, and click on it. You can then set up a password for your sysadmin. Then find a safe way to share the login credentials with your sysadmin.

When you create this admin login and your sysadmin uses it, your sysadmin will only have access to that specific server. If you want your sysadmin to manage more than one server for you, you will need to do this process for each separate server.

The sysadmin account will only let the sysadmin see the menu items “Servers” and “Traffic statistics”. The admin login will NOT let your sysadmin do the following:

  • create a support ticket
  • order new products
  • cancel existing products
  • change your core customer account information (your password, your emaail address, billing info, etc.)
  • close/cancel your account.

However, it will allow them to perform resets and to access the rescue system for the server.

Can I change the admin login?

Yes, you (the Hetzner customer) can change the admin login. Your sysadmin cannot change the login. You must change it for them.

I am a reseller / sysadmin / service provider. How do I set up sub-accounts on Robot?

Currently, there is no automatic way to do this for our dedicated servers.

You have three main options:

  1. You can ask your client to create a separate admin login. See above.
  2. You can configure/set up your own solution or use a third party solution by using our API.
  3. Not recommended! You can ask your client to share their customer login details with you in a secure way. We do not recommend this because it gives you as the sysadmin access the customer’s entire account. So you would have access to any and all products, to the base customer information, billing information, etc. There are obvious security and data protection concerns here, which is why we don’t recommend it.

Telephone password

If you have created a telephone password for your server, you can change this on Robot under "Server" -> tab "Phone password".
